This summer I am attending one class at UMD, I am working at a job I love, I am (so far) eating healthy and I am newly married. So I have decided that this is going to be the best summer yet.
I recently switched jobs at work. I went from being a receptionist to being in activities. I get to go to work, work on crafts, listen to music, play games and be outside. I get to surround myself with happy grandmas and grandpas, all of them are sweet and happy. Constantly offering candy or words of advice, telling jokes, yes sometimes a little racist or sexist but all in all it comes from a good place. They tell stories and are excited to see you and hear all about your weekend or day or event. I am getting paid to do all of this, sounds like a pretty good deal to me.
Being newly married I have about a zillion things to scrapbook, hang around the house, decorate, find homes for, find uses for or just throw away. So I am going to be crafting. Can I make something out of leftover programs? Can I find a use for the giant bird cage/card holder? Do I really need to use every picture that every guest took? These are the questions I cannot wait to answer. I had Alex move a dresser into the living room so I could be a part of the hustle and bustle around the house but have a place to store and work on scrapbooking. I cannot wait to organize my new scrapbooking area and plan out my pages.
Alex and I went grocery shopping this week and we spent our own money. I know, thats a big deal! We planned out our meals for the entire week and decided what we would need to make all of them work. Neither Alex or myself can cook, but we are trying to make the most of it by taking our time to research meals we like and change things we don’t like. Our next step is to do this weekly and add working out into our routine. Finally it is not snowing or raining so I can walk to work, I can walk on my work breaks and both Alex and I can get back to our 5k a day walking route.
I cannot wait to start doing all of these things and including Alex will only help our new marriage grow.
So this is the summer of crafting, learning, working, playing, photography, smiling, dreaming, planning and being happy. This is my summer!
